7 Treats to Indulge Cravings in 2014

We've made it one week into 2014!!!!! How many of you are still on the up and up with your resolutions? The one week marker has been a common point for me to ask myself "do I really want to stick with this diet...its really hard and I don't think I can do it." I've got news for you friend, this is a lifestyle change, not a diet; lifestyle changes have no room for those kind of self-doubting questions. You wanted badly enough to make changes that you resolved yourself at the beginning of the year to finally go through with it, don't stop now!

But sometimes you gotta have something sweet or something salty. Here are 7 ways to indulge a craving.

1.) Try baking a protein bar! Just google Quest Bar Cookies. They're great. Takes just a few minute and you've got a guilt free treat.

2.) Try a plantain or cucumber chip. Plantain chips stand up well to salsa and guac both, cucumbers are better with just the guac. The plantain chips are a little calorie heavy when compared to the cucumber chips, mix and match to suit your calorie goal for the day.

3.) Greek Yogurt Parfait. You can make these with any fresh fruit, but I keep a bag of unsweetened frozen pineapple at work for these occasions. I also put them in wine or martini glasses because we keep those at work and nothing makes me feel fancier than spooning parfait out of an up glass while I'm working. :D

4.) Try a mug cake. Warning, this one does require protein powder. Again, you can google for recipes for these. They come out halfway between a brownie and a muffin, they're absolutely delicious. I try to top mine with fresh fruit, but I know a lot of people who are partial to frosting theirs with peanut butter.

5.) Mix Greek Yogurt with 1 tsp of flavored coconut extract and 1 T of chocolate chips. I created this one by accident in the summer, happiest accident of recent memory. It's also great if you put it in the freezer for a 10-20 min so it starts to get a little fro-yo-y.

6.) Popcorn. Popcorn with flavored salts. Just make sure you air pop the popcorn at home!!!

7.) Banana + 1T Peanut Butter, soy butter in my case. :) It's sweet and salty, best of both worlds. A curious puppy-onlooker is recommended but not required.

Whatever your fitness goals may be, I hope these 7 delicious treats help you on your journey to being #fitin2014!!!
