Make 2015 your healthiest year yet in three easy steps!

Who out there has fitness or health goals for 2015? I do. I know you do too. Is one of them to make a routine? Awesome, that's exactly what I want to talk to you about.

How should you go about creating a routine? There are so many ways to approach this and so many of them are overkill. Here's my approach...

Step 1: Make a list of exercises you think you should do.

Yes really. List them out. All the stuff you can do, the stuff that's good for you, and then stuff that you think you should do.

Here's my 2015 list:
Weightlifting
Yoga
Hiking
Running
Walking
Swimming
Biking
Plyometrics
Pilates

Step 2: Cross the "crap" off that list.

Cross off everything you don't really love, stuff that you'd consider a waste of your time, stuff that you don't really want to spend your time on.

Here's my edited 2015 list:
Weightlifting
Yoga
Hiking
Running
Walking
Swimming
Biking
Plyometrics
Pilates

Step 3: Schedule it!

Put it into your phone's calendar, your wall calendar, your desktop calendar, whatever scheduling application you use. If you don't write it down, you're likely to put it off.

If you're trying to schedule your fitness activities first thing in the morning, make a custom alarm label in your phone so you get a motivating message instead of the generic "alarm". Alarms are boring, messages from yourself promising coffee and a workout is way awesome.

Take advantage of alarms and reminders on your electronic calendars. They are a great way to reinforce those healthy habits that you're trying to build. The more automated and routine you make your healthy endeavors, the more likely you are to stick with the program.

As always, if you have questions about anything health, fitness, or gym related, leave them in the comments or email me!

  1. I love the custom alarm tip! Especially with all the fun emojis you can use!
